Operation SAFE HAVEN: Maj Gen Oyinlola Assumes Command, Pledges Troop Welfare

Maj Gen EF Oyinlola has officially assumed command of the Special Task Force, Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), taking over from Maj Gen AE Abubakar. The change of leadership took place at the OPSH headquarters in Jos, following Maj Gen Abubakar’s recent posting to the National Defence College (NDC) as the Deputy Commandant.


During the handing and taking over ceremony, Maj Gen Abubakar, who also serves as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, expressed gratitude for the unwavering support he received from personnel throughout his tenure. He commended the efforts of key stakeholders within the command's Area of Responsibility (AOR) for their contributions to enhancing security and stability. He further urged OPSH personnel to extend their full support to the new commander to build on the progress achieved.

In his address, Maj Gen Oyinlola praised his predecessor’s efforts in repositioning OPSH into a result-oriented operation. He outlined his command philosophy, emphasizing sound administration and a strong focus on the welfare of troops. He urged officers and personnel to maintain discipline and commitment in their collective effort to eradicate violence within the Joint Operations Area.

The ceremony featured key activities, including the signing of handing and taking over notes, the symbolic transfer of the OPSH command insignia, an address to troops, a presentation of the quarter guard, a change of flags, and a group photograph.

Operation SAFE HAVEN is a multi-agency security task force established to address security challenges in Plateau and parts of Bauchi and Kaduna States.
