POLICE ARREST 13 MORE TRAFFIC ROBBERS IN LAGOS, REASSURE RESIDENTS OF ADEQUATE SECURITY

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), a unit of the Lagos State Police Command, have arrested additional 13 suspected traffic robbers in fresh operation, as part of their efforts to curtail insecurity in the State.


The suspects, all males, are: Akeredola Taiwo (33), Oriyomi Solola (28), Olanrewaju Sikiru (25), Hakeem Ridwan (22), Joseph Ovie (33), Muhammadu Aminu (32), Monday Nweke (35), Emmanuel Anthony (24), Onyeka Muoghara (40), Salaudeen Rilwan (32), Kayode Dele (31), Silas Manner (27) and Favour Elijah (26).


They were apprehended by the security operatives on Wednesday January, 13 2021 while lurking around Motorways, Old Toll-Gate and Olusosun Dump site, Ojota, Lagos.

Some of the suspects were caught red-handed while taking drugs in their hideouts.


Following their arrest, residents of the area and eye witnesses confirmed their involvement in some of the prior traffic robberies and other crimes in the areas.


Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu has ordered that the suspects be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for proper investigation and possible prosecution.


Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), had earlier arrested two traffic robbers along Ogudu/Alapere areas of the State.


The suspects, Dada Owolabi (52) and Kolawole Olawoye, (25) who were arrested over the weekend at different locations at about 10 pm and both are assisting the Police to apprehend other fleeing members of their gangs.


Similarly, on New Year eve, nine traffic robbers were arrested by Police operatives attached to Ketu Division, along Y-junction, by Old Tollgate, Ketu.

CP Odumosu, on Thursday, January 14, while addressing officers and men of RRS and other operational units who are deployed at strategic places across the state to fight traffic robbery, reassured residents of the force's commitment towards eradicating traffic robbers and criminal elements in the State.


He emphasised on the need to adopt various anti crime strategies in combating the menace which must not be allowed to jeopardise the security network of the State.
