POLICE ARREST NOTORIOUS TRANS-BORDER CAR THIEVES IN KATSINA, TWO STOLEN VEHICLES RECOVERED

The Katsina State Police command has arrested a syndicate known for stealing cars from Kano, Jigawa, Kaduna, and Katsina, and dumping them in Niger Republic.





The syndicate were arrested around 9.30am on Tuesday December 7 with a stolen motor vehicle, Toyota, Camry, light blue, with registration number JJJ 340 EF and another motor vehicle, Honda, CRV, ash in colour, with registration number DKA 980 AH at a mechanical workshop at Kofar Sauri – Kaita road, Katsina. 



The suspects are identified as Usman Sani, 50, of Rijiyar Lemo Quarters, Kano state; Lukman Magaji, 20, of Hotoro Quarters, Kano state; and Yakubu Ismail, 25, of Shagunba village, Batagarawa, Katsina.



Security operatives recovered a master key, two knives, a bunch of different motor vehicles keys, three (3) pliers, two screwdrivers, one hammer, one hacksaw, and a bag containing electrical repairs tools from the syndicate.



In a related development, security operatives have arrested Abba Ibrahim, popularly called Gwanki’, a notorious armed robber who specialized in attacking commercial motorcyclists in Katsina.


The suspect was arrested when he attacked and stabbed one Yusuf Abdulkadir of Sabuwar Unguwa Quarters, Katsina with a sharp knife on the head and robbed him of his motorcycle. The victim raised an alarm which prompted the deployment of security operatives to the scene to arrest the suspect.


Also, the State Police command has arrested a notorious trans-border drug trafficker who specializes in trafficking drugs across the borders of Nigeria and Niger Republic. 



The suspect Murtala Rabiu, 25, was arrested on November 25, after he was intercepted along the Kalgo-Koza road, conveying ten rolls of neatly packaged parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and ten sachets of D5 drugs on his unregistered Daylong motorcycle to Niger republic. 


During the investigation, Murtala confessed to have received the exhibits from one Abdulaziz Alhaji Babba of Zango LGA, to deliver to one Haiyo, popularly called ‘Officer’ at Gungara village.


The police command in Katsina also succeeded in arresting two suspected cultists at Dogon Karfe Quarters, Dutsinma.


The duo, Sani Abdulwaheed, popularly called ‘Ghost’, 28, of Kofar Janta, Alim, Ilorin, Kwara state, and Owade Abdullahi Oyetunji, 24, of Ajegunle area, Oyo state, were arrested around 5pm on November 10, 2021.


One battle axe, 11 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana, charms, and other items suspected to be connected to cult activities were recovered from the cultists.


Also, security operatives in the State arrested 16 suspected vandals of Government installations at Kofar Kaura, Katsina State.


The suspects were arrested around 8pm on December 1 at Kofar Kaura area, where they were vandalising Government installations. The suspects are identified as Aliyu Danlami ‘m’ aged 40 years, Abubakar Lawal ‘m’ aged 22 years, Abubakar Dahiru ‘m’ aged 21 years, Buhari Lawal ‘m’ aged 20 years, Aminu Tasi’u ‘m’ aged 20 years, Abba Lawal ‘m’ aged 19 years, Mohammed Lawal ‘m’ aged 16 years, Salisu Ibrahim ‘m’ aged 20 years, Abubakar Bashar ‘m’ aged 21 years, Sulaiman Isah ‘m’ aged 18 years, Awwal Abubakar ‘m’ aged 18 years, Bilyaminu Ibrahim ‘m’ aged 21 years, Haruna Saleh ‘m’ aged 15 years, Abdullahi Lawal ‘m' aged 20 years, Abdullahi Lawal ‘m’, Da’ud Isah ‘m’


Two shovels, one digger and some quantity of cable wires were recovered from them.


Relatedly, the command arrested one Sani Sule popularly called ‘Sherele’, a suspected bandits informant and logistics supplier.


The suspect, who was arrested around 4pm on December 2 at Yantumaki market, confessed to have rustled 30 cows to one Alhaji Ango and Alhaji Shadari all of Sahawa, Matazu LGA of the state.
