POLICE ARREST TWO UNIBEN STUDENTS OVER DEATH OF A COLLEAGUE
The operatives of Edo State Police Command arrested two University of Benin (UNIBEN) students, Samson Kennedy, a 200-level Biochemistry student, and Wilfred Emmanuel, a 500-level Optometry student, over the death of their colleague, Francis Aniude on 29th June 2023.
The information available indicates that the suspects allegedly invited Aniude to swim in the Ekosodin River, where he drowned on Thursday, June 29.
Consequently, Aniude’s corpse was recovered on Saturday, 1st July 2023 by local divers in the Ekosodin River, near the Ugbowo campus of the institution.
Meanwhile, the arrest of the suspects will determine the circumstances surrounding the victim’s death. Hence, the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
