POLICE NAB TEN SUSPECTS BEHIND OSUN NURTW VIOLENCE, ARMS AND AMMUNITION RECOVERED
At least ten suspects have been arrested by operatives of Osun State Police command following the crisis that erupted between rival factions of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Osogbo on Monday.
One Beretta pistol, two pump action rifles, two double barrel guns, nine live and four expanded cartridges, five cutlasses and charms were confiscated from the suspects.
Recall that rival gangs of the transport unions engaged in violence in selected motor parks across the State capital, Osogbo, on Monday morning.
The day before, a rival faction of the transport union had attacked the Union Secretariat at Sadiat Hotel area of Osogbo and in the process, a pregnant staff of the union was assaulted, while the Financial Secretary and other staff members were injured and their vehicles destroyed.
The State governor, Ademola Adeleke has issued a stern warning to all transport unions to allow peace to reign within the motor parks.
Adeleke also directed security agencies across the State to ensure that the violence was brought to an end and ensure peace throughout the nooks and crannies of the State.
