
Police Neutralize Three Bandits, Recover Ten AK-47 Rifles in Nationwide Crackdown
The Nigeria Police Force has recorded another breakthrough in its ongoing offensive against violent criminal syndicates, neutralizing three armed bandits and recovering ten AK-47 rifles during intelligence-led operations across five states in July 2025.
The operations, conducted by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department – Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT), took place across Taraba, Plateau, Adamawa, Nasarawa, and Niger States. According to police authorities, the bandits were fatally subdued after several gunfire exchanges during which they attempted to flee. Others escaped with gunshot wounds, abandoning weapons believed to have been used in kidnappings, armed robberies, gunrunning, and cattle rustling.
Follow-up operations are currently ongoing to track and apprehend the fleeing suspects, who have been linked to deadly attacks on communities in the affected regions.
Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks and safeguarding lives and property nationwide. He urged citizens to continue providing actionable intelligence and report any suspicious activity to nearby police stations or official channels.
