Police Rescue 17 Kidnap Victims, Recover 21 Rifles, Neutralize Robbers in Kaduna Operations
The Nigeria Police Force has achieved a series of major security breakthroughs in Kaduna State, rescuing 17 kidnapped victims, recovering 21 fabricated AK-47 rifles, and neutralizing three armed robbers in separate operations conducted on April 9, 2025.
According to a police statement, operatives of the Kaduna State Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit, in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), successfully rescued 17 individuals who were abducted on March 3 from Sarkin Pawa in Niger State. The victims, which include children and women, were freed through a non-violent, intelligence-led operation and are all reported to be in stable condition after medical examinations at the Police Clinic in Kaduna.
In a related operation the same day, police intercepted a commercial vehicle at Kawo Central Motor Park, Kaduna, and discovered 21 fabricated AK-47 rifles concealed inside. The suspect, 27-year-old Jamilu Suleiman of Rafin Guza, Kaduna, was arrested at the scene. Preliminary investigations indicate he was acting on instructions to deliver the firearms to an unidentified individual. Authorities have launched a full investigation into the arms trafficking network.
Also on April 9, around 5:00 a.m., police officers from the Tafa Division responded to a distress call reporting an armed robbery at Doggi Farm along the Kaduna–Abuja Expressway. Upon arrival, they engaged a group of about 30 armed robbers in a gun battle. Two suspects were killed on the spot, while others fled. Two additional suspects were apprehended with injuries; one later died in the hospital, while the other remains in custody and is assisting with the investigation.
The police reaffirmed their commitment to intelligence-driven and collaborative operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and ensuring public safety across the country.
