SIXTEEN DIE IN BAUCHI FATAL AUTO CRASH - FRSC

Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Bauchi State, Yusuf Abdullahi has said Sixteen people died in a road crash that occurred in the State on Sunday night.


Abdullahi gave this confirmation in an interview granted to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Bauchi on Monday morning.


He said the accident involved one articulated truck and one other Toyota Hummer Commuter bus. He said the sad incident took place around Bambal Village, along Kano-Jama’are Road on Sunday night. 


The Sector Commander stated that it took his personnel about less than Seven minutes to arrive at the scene of the accident. He attributed the likely cause of the accident to excessive speeding.


“Sixteen people were involved in the crash. They were Ten males and Six females. Unfortunately, all the people in the vehicle lost their lives to the crash. The Hummer bus burst into flames after it ran into the truck and no single soul survived the crash. Some of the victims were burnt beyond recognition inside the Hummer bus", Abdullahi said. 


He further disclosed that the corpses were deposited in the morgue of Kiyawa General Hospital, along the Kano-Jama’are Road for identification and claims.


He advised motorists and all road users to always be conscious of traffic rules and regulations while plying the roads, especially at this end of year period when human and vehicular activities are usually on the increase.
