SOUTH AFRICA: POLICE IS KILLING MORE CITIZENS THAN CORONA VIRUS
South Africa has Recorded eight deaths since the beginning of the nationwide lockdown on March 26th. However, these deaths are not traceable to the Coronavirus Pandemic. According to the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID), they have occurred at the hands of the police.
On Friday, the IPID released a breakdown of the complaints they have received since the lockdown began. It was revealed the six deaths came as a result of police action in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and Western Cape, whilst the remaining two in police custody were in Limpopo.
Assault Cases: 13 assault cases have been lodged with the IPID, as well as 13 cases of police discharging an official firearm.
The number of Coronavirus cases in South Africa tops 1500 and they have recorded 7 deaths.
