NDLEA Intercepts Cocaine Concealed in Lipsticks, Title Documents; Busts Major Drug Rings Across Nigeria

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted cocaine consignments concealed in female lipsticks and property documents destined for the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia, alongside dismantling major drug trafficking networks across multiple states.

NDLEA operatives from the Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) uncovered the illicit shipments on July 3, 2025, during routine checks at a courier company in Lagos. Recovered were 420 grams of cocaine ingeniously hidden in 84 pieces of lipsticks bound for the UK, and another 280 grams concealed in a property title document (Certificate of Occupancy) destined for Saudi Arabia.


In a related breakthrough, notorious drug kingpin, Ajetsibo Emami, alias ‘Warri Kinsman’, was arrested on June 28 in Ikeja, Lagos, following a three-day sting operation. His network was found in possession of 681 pouches of Canadian Loud, a premium cannabis strain, weighing 414.2 kilograms, intended for distribution across Lagos and beyond.


Similarly, NDLEA dismantled a family-run drug ring led by businessman Ajah Johnson Uchenna and his wife Rosemary, who were arrested alongside their daughters and a family friend. The syndicate was discovered with over 508.5 kilograms of cannabis during multiple raids on their Lagos residence and storage facilities.

At Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, NDLEA officers intercepted Aburemi Hysent, a frequent traveller, with 7,660 tramadol pills concealed in food items bound for Italy. He confessed to being promised €800 for delivering the consignment.


In another airport operation, NDLEA recovered 52 counterfeit travellers’ cheques worth AU$17.7 million hidden in children’s books destined for Malaysia via Istanbul. Freight agent, Bolarinwa Saheed, was arrested and handed over to the EFCC for further investigation.


Additional seizures and arrests include:


359kg of skunk recovered from Baba-Pupa area, Seme border, Badagry.


10,000 tramadol pills, 1.050kg of Colorado cannabis, and multiple arrests along Okene-Lokoja highway and Jabi Park, Abuja.


Over 62,000 opioid pills and ampoules seized in Osun State, alongside three arrests at a vulcanizer workshop in Osogbo.


Destruction of 24,175kg of cannabis on 9.67 hectares of farmland in Osun State, with seven suspects apprehended.


167kg of skunk seized in Borno State and 452kg in Kano State, with two suspects arrested.


11,000 tramadol pills recovered along Abuja-Kaduna expressway.


4,800 tramadol pills seized in Sokoto State.


312kg of skunk and 10,000 diazepam tablets confiscated in Kebbi State.


Nearly 50,000 tramadol capsules intercepted in Taraba State.


115kg of cannabis recovered in Edo State with four suspects arrested.


A 78-year-old suspect arrested in Cross River with 14.49kg of cannabis and tramadol.


Meanwhile, NDLEA’s War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitisation programmes continued nationwide, targeting schools and communities in Enugu, Lagos, Katsina, and Borno States.


Chairman/CEO of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended the operatives for their sustained efforts in drug supply reduction and public enlightenment, vowing continued nationwide crackdowns on drug trafficking networks.
