KATSINA POLICE FOIL CATTLE RUSTLING ATTEMPT, NEUTRALIZE 2 BANDITS IN GUN BATTLE

The operatives of Katsina State Police Command with the synergy of the members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC) and local vigilante, have succeeded in foiling an attempted cattle rustling, at Gidan-Boka village, Yargoje ward, Kankara LGA, Katsina State.


Following a tip-off, operatives attached to the Kankara divisional police headquarters tracked the movement of some suspected armed bandits with suspected rustled animals to a point at Gidan-Boka forest in Yargoje ward, Kankara LGA. The operatives, led by the DPO, engaged the suspected bandits in a fierce gun duel, resulting in the neutralisation of two (2) suspected armed bandits.


In the course of scanning the scene, one (1) Ak 47 rifle with five (5) rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, one (1) operational motorcycle belonging to the bandits, and thirty-four (34) suspected rustled cows, were recovered from the scene. Investigation is currently ongoing with a view to identifying and arresting the fleeing suspects.
