Technical Fault Forced NAF C-130 to Divert to Burkina Faso- Spokesperson

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has provided clarification on the precautionary landing made by one of its C-130 transport aircraft in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, during a transit flight to Portugal on December 8.

In a statement released on Tuesday, NAF spokesperson Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame said the aircraft departed Lagos as scheduled before the crew detected a technical issue mid-flight. The situation, he noted, required the pilots to make an immediate safety assessment, prompting a diversion to the nearest suitable airfield.

Ejodame stated that the landing was carried out following standard safety procedures and in line with international aviation practices. He confirmed that all personnel onboard were unharmed and were treated courteously by Burkinabè authorities after the aircraft was secured on the ground.

He added that logistical arrangements are currently underway to enable the crew to continue the mission once technical checks are concluded.

The Air Force reiterated its commitment to maintaining rigorous safety standards and ensuring the protection and welfare of its personnel while carrying out national and international assignments.
