FCT Police Raid Illegal Drug Hotspots, Arrest Eight Suspects, Recover Ammunition and Illicit Substances
Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has conducted a series of coordinated raids on identified illegal drug hotspots across Abuja, leading to the arrest of eight suspects and the recovery of various illicit items, including live ammunition and narcotics.
According to a statement released by the command today, the raids were carried out by operatives of the Anti-Narcotics Unit in several locations, including SDP Junction in Gwagwalada, Lugbe Federal Housing by Tipper Garage, Wuse Zone 5 by Access Bank, and AYA Roundabout.
During the operation, suspects attempted to flee upon sighting the police but were swiftly apprehended. The police recovered one hundred rounds of live 7.62 x 39mm ammunition, a large quantity of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis, and a substantial amount of encapsulated illicit drugs.
The FCT Police Command emphasized its commitment to combating the spread of illicit drug activities and ensuring the safety and well-being of residents. The Commissioner of Police urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement authorities.
The police reassured residents of their continued efforts to rid the territory of criminal elements and enhance security across the FCT.
