TROOPS DESTROY BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS LEADERS' HIDEOUTS, KILL SEVERAL FIGHTERS

Troops of Air Task Force of Operation Lafiya Dole, on July 3, destroyed the hideouts of Boko Haram Terrorists leaders and killed some of their fighters at Panrisu and Bula Bello in the Sambisa forest area of Borno State. 


Major General John Enenche, Coordinator Defence Media Operations Defence Headquarters, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, June 6, 2020. 


Enenche said the operation was executed as part of the ongoing subsidiary operation Long Reach II following Intelligence reports which revealed the resurgence of terrorists' activities in the areas. 


Parisu is made up of trapped access routes, fortified check points and structures camouflaged under the forest vegetation, which served as a stronghold for the terrorists commanders, according to the General. 


Recent aerial surveillance missions showed increased activities of the terrorists in structures in the middle of Bula Bello which made the Air Task Force deploy its fighter jets to attack the settlements. 


The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) scored accurate bomb and rocket strikes, which resulted to the destruction of some of the structures as well as the killing of several terrorists. 


Eons Intelligence, on July 1, reported that the troops of the Nigerian Army repelled attacks by Boko Haram terrorists at Ngowum area of the State. 


The gallant and prepared troops engaged and subdued the insurgents which forced them to retreat.


The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, commended the ATF for their dedication, dexterity, and professionalism towards the fight against terrorism. 


The Defence Headquarters urged them to intensify the air offensive against the terrorists and all the other security threats of the country.
