TROOPS DESTROY BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS' LOGISTICS BASE, KILL SEVERAL IN BORNO

Troops of Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation Lafiya Dole, in another air operation, under the subsidiary operation Long Reach have destroyed a Boko Haram Terrorists’ logistics base and killed scores of their fighters in Borno State.

John Enenche, the Major General Coordinator Defence Media Operations, Defence Headquarters disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, June 27, 2020.

Enenche said the operation was achieved via air strikes executed on 25 June 2020, at Tongule and Bukar Meram after series of surveillance missions which exposed the resurgence of terrorists’ activities at the two settlements.

Speaking further, the Major General said, the Nigerian Air Force fighter jets engaged the Tongule village, where recent credible intelligence indicated frequent convergence of the terrorists.

“About 35 terrorists were spotted by the NAF surveillance aircraft in different parts of the settlement as it vectored the fighter jets to attack the target area. The munitions from the jets hit designated areas within the settlement, destroying some structures and taking out many of the terrorists.”

Similarly, at Bukar Meram, the NAF fighter jets struck the Terrorists’ logistics hub on the fringes of the Lake Chad, the airstrikes which were carefully timed and executed in multiple waves for maximum effects, resulted in the obliteration of designated portions of the terrorists’ facilities. Several of their fighters were also killed in the process, Enenche said.

This comes 2 days after the Chief of Army Staff; Lt Gen Tukur Buratai charged senior military officers and operational commanders to brace up towards exposing, flushing out and destroying terrorists and their sponsors.

Buratai noted that the charge was a wakeup call in the effort to combat Boko Haram terrorists, North West banditry, and the myriad of other security challenges across the country.

Recall, on June 17, the troops of the Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation Operation Lafiya Dole killed several Boko Haram Terrorists and immobilized one of their gun trucks at Bula Korege, a terrorists' logistics distribution centre, on the fringes of the Sambisa Forest in Borno State, Eons Intelligence Reported.
