Troops Foil ISWAP Infiltration Attempts, Force Terrorists to Retreat in Borno
Troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, have successfully repelled multiple infiltration attempts by ISWAP terrorists across parts of Borno State.
The military said the terrorists attempted to gain access into the metropolis through Muna Garage, Shuwari Village, and the Ajilari Cross axis between 12:20 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. on July 10, 2026. However, troops, aided by early warning systems, detected the movement and engaged the attackers from multiple directions with heavy firepower.
Additional infiltration attempts by the terrorists were also thwarted at Miringa and Dutsen Kura in Buratai. During a pursuit operation at Miringa, an MRAP vehicle triggered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), but no casualty was recorded among the troops.
Overwhelmed by the swift response and tactical manoeuvres of the military, the terrorists abandoned their mission and retreated in disarray across the different attack routes.
Troops are currently conducting clearance operations and pursuing fleeing terrorists to consolidate the gains made, maintain dominance of the area, and prevent further threats to surrounding communities.
Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations against terrorist groups and urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information to security agencies to support ongoing counter-terrorism efforts.
