Troops Repel JAS/ISWAP Attack in Bitta, Recover Weapons
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI successfully repelled a coordinated attack by JAS/ISWAP terrorists in Bitta, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State late Saturday night.
The attack occurred at approximately 10:25 p.m. on July 27, when insurgents, advancing from the Damboa axis, briefly breached the defensive perimeter of the military base. However, the troops responded with tactical precision, engaging the attackers in a fierce firefight and forcing them to retreat.
Several terrorists were neutralized during the encounter, and a number of AK-47 rifles were recovered. No casualties were recorded on the side of the Nigerian troops.
In a follow-up assessment on July 28, the Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division, accompanied by senior commanders, visited Bitta to evaluate the situation firsthand. He ordered the immediate remobilization of forces in the area to reinforce security.
