Troops rescue 33 kidnapped passengers in Zamfara
Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued 33 passengers who were abducted by terrorists in the Magazu area of Tsafe Local Government Area, Zamfara State.
The rescue operation followed credible information received on 8 August 2026 that terrorists had intercepted commuters travelling through the area.
Acting swiftly on the intelligence, troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, in collaboration with personnel of the Nigeria Police deployed in Tsafe, mobilised to the area and engaged the terrorists.
Unable to withstand the troops’ firepower, the terrorists abandoned the victims and fled into the surrounding bushes.
All 33 passengers were subsequently rescued unhurt, while troops continued efforts to track down the fleeing terrorists.
