TROOPS RESCUE KIDNAP VICTIMS, CAPTURE NOTORIOUS BANDITS STRONGHOLD IN KATSINA AND KILL 17

The Nigeria Army has rescued two kidnapped girls and successfully captured one of the fortresses of armed bandits in Katsina State. 


Troops of Combat Team 1, Operation SAHEL SANITY with the support of Air Task Force on July 18 captured one of the notorious armed bandits’ strongholds known as Dangote Camp. 

The armed bandits' base is situated in a deep forest in Jibia LGA of Katsina State.

According to the Ag Director Defence Media Operations, Brigadier General Benard Onyeuko, 17 bandits were killed during the operation while several others escaped with gunshot injuries. The following arms were recovered from the fleeing bandits: 5 AK 47 Rifles, 3 Dane guns, 2 AK 47 Rifle magazines, 152 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition and 7 motorcycles were captured from the fleeing bandits.

Unfortunately, one brave officer and 2 gallant soldiers paid the supreme price while 4 other soldiers were wounded in action.


The soldiers wounded in the line of duty are currently responding positively to treatment in a military medical facility, Brigadier General Benard Onyeuko said.

Similarly, on July 18, troops arrested 5 suspected bandits along Faskari – Sheme Dandume Road in Katsina State.


One of the arrested suspects claimed to be a policeman. The man, identified as Bashir Usman, could not validate his claim, and he had no form of identification. Items recovered from him include: AK 47 Rifle loaded with 28 rounds of ammunition, one handset and the sum of Six Thousand Three Hundred and Fifty Naira (N6,050. 00) only. The Defense Headquarters say suspects are presently undergoing preliminary interrogation.


Also, on July 17 2020, troops rescued 16 and 10-year-old girls in the state.

16-year-old Miss Hadiza San was rescued from bandits who invaded Kuka Uku Village in Batsari LGA while the 10-year-old girl was rescued from two bandits on a motorcycle who snatched her from her mother while they were fetching firewood around Bagega – Tudurki Forest.
