TWO POLICE INSPECTORS KILLED AS GUNMEN ATTACK POLICE STATION IN UMUAHIA SOUTH LGA OF ABIA

Gunmen suspected to be members of IPOB/ESN in the early hours of Monday May 17, attacked and set the Apumiri Ubakala Police Station in Umuahia South Local Government Area ablaze.

The attack, which occurred amid the 8pm to 6am curfew imposed on some Local Government Areas in the State is the fifth in a series of attacks on police facilities in the State, in the last one week.

Sources say the attackers broke into the police station around 2am on Monday morning, killed two police inspectors, and razed the facility.

It was learnt that the gunmen invaded the armory, carted away guns and ammunition, and also set free the detainees.

Recall that Eons Intelligence has reported that police stations in Nkporo, Uzuakoli, Ubani Ibeku, and Bende in Abia State had all been razed down by unknown gunmen.

Similar incidents have also been reported at the offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Ohafia, Abia State.
