UAE DELEGATION ARRIVES NIGERIA TO RENEW RELATIONS, FLIGHTS RESUMPTION

The UAE delegation arrived in Abuja to finalize discussions about potentially lifting the visa ban on Nigeria and resuming flight services, following President Bola Tinubu's recent visit to the UAE, where discussions on renewing diplomatic relations began.

The UAE delegation comprising state officials Alshehhu Rasheed, Teo Teck San, Almannaei Khalid, Alhosani Talal, and Janahi Asma, is set to meet Nigerian officials in the following days to reestablish diplomatic ties and resolve the concerns that led to the suspension of flights and visas.

The UAE withdrew Emirates and Etihad Airways from operating in Nigeria and ceased issuing visas to Nigerians last year due to Emirates revenues being withheld in Nigeria without remittance to the airline.

President Tinubu, during his stopover at Abu Dhabi, discussed restoring diplomatic ties with President Mohamed bin Zayad al Nahyan. These discussions are anticipated to facilitate the reinstatement of Emirates Airlines' 21 weekly flights, comprising two daily flights to Lagos and one to Abuja from Dubai. Additionally, the resumption of Air Peace flights to the UAE is also expected.
