UNAUTHORISED CIRCULAR OF OFFICIAL DOCUMENTS ON SOCIAL MEDIA IS IRRESPONSIBLE AND RECKLESS- HEAD OF SERVICE
The Head of Service has warned all public office holders to stop the unauthorised circulation of official documents on social media, saying it is both irresponsible and reckless.
A circular signed by Dr Folashade Yemi-Esan, head of the Civil Service of the Federation, which was also leaked on social media, said revealing sensitive information such as these is "embarrassing to the government and therefore not acceptable."
"This irresponsible and reckless action is an act of serious misconduct, with a penalty of dismissal from service," the statement read.
The Head of Service, therefore, directed all permanent secretaries to notify all their staff and inform them of the consequences of breaking the rules.
On April 28, a draft of President Muhammadu Buhari's speech was leaked on social media hours ahead of the nationwide broadcast.
The culprit was later found and arrested, according to the Special Adviser to the President, Femi Adesina.
