US ELECTION: JOE BIDEN DEFEATS TRUMP, EXCEEDS 270 ELECTORAL VOTES
Joe Biden has defeated Donald Trump to become the 46th US President after winning Nevada and Pennsylvania.
Although vote counting is ongoing in some states, Biden is projected to have secured 284 electoral college votes which surpass the 270 threshold required to win the race to the White House.
Donald Trump is yet to respond to the latest development but his campaign team has vowed to challenge results in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Arizona and Michigan.
The Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger on Friday announced that the state would likely be holding a recount citing the small margin between the results in the polls.
"This process is and will remain open and transparent to monitors," Raffensberger said. Candidates must be within half a percentage point of each other to trigger a recount
