Impressed by the stellar professionalism and respect for Human Rights portrayed by the Nigerian Department of State Security, the Forum of US-based immigrant lawyers has recommended that the DSS boss, Yusuf Magaji Bichi be invited to address the homeland Security Committee in the US.

The forum made the request during a visit to the Chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security, Bennie Thompson.

Responding to the request, Bennie Thompson promised to process the request and "communicate the decision to the forum accordingly."

Mr Thompson noted Nigeria would set a good example to the rest of Africa through the professionalism of its security service, adding that the US is committed to supporting the Secret Services of developing nations.

"Nigeria is a leader on the African continent. Therefore if her secret service is leading professionally and efficiently, it will be a good example for the rest of Africa; Ladies and gentlemen I commend your resilience and patriotism.

"The homeland security of the US is committed to supporting secret services of developing nations throughout the world to achieve their goals and would do so in ways that are within the scope of the constitutional provisions of the United States and international conventions."

The US coordinator of the group, R.E Ogwuche esq in a statement said: "Nigeria as the most populous black nation in Africa has indeed led by example through the commitment of the department of state security as far as human rights are concerned."

She added that the DSS has professionally maintained internal security while at the same time upholding human rights.
