VILLAGERS REPORT INFLUX OF ILLEGAL MINERS INTO KANO COMMUNITIES

Residents of Gwarzo, Kabo and Shanono LGAs of Kano State have expressed concerns over what they described as an influx of suspicious strangers in their hundreds from Zamfara State, allegedly disguised as illegal miners.

The locals say the increased number of strangers in their communities co-incides with the sudden inceease in mining activities in the area.

The locals are apparently disoriented over the development because it is not easy deciphering between the suspected miners and bandits.

However, the locals have been advised to remain vigilant as relevant security agencies have been informed about this influx. It is also suspected that the recent Miliatry onslaught against terrorists in the North may be responsible for this unusual resettlement, as some of them may be fleeing bandits.

In a related development, villagers reported that about 20 bandits were sighted on brand new motorcycles in Karaye community primary school on Tuesday. They however disappeared into the forest before security forces.

Eons intelligence also gathered from insider sources that suspected bandits numbering about 30 and riding brand new motorcycles were sighted passing through Gomo community heading towards Gomo forest.

Locals say the suspects were not armed. This can only indicate that they recently purchased the motorcycles in preparation for something significant.

Security agencies are hereby adviced to look into the source of the brand new Boxer motorcycles.
