GHANA PRESIDENT NANA AKUFO-ADDO APOLOGISES TO BUHARI OVER DEMOLITION OF A BUILDING ON THE PREMISES OF THE NIGERIA HIGH COMMISSION

The President of Ghana, Nana Akufo Addo on Tuesday, June 23, apologised to President Muhammadu Buhari over the demolition of a building on the premises of the Nigeria High Commission in Accra.

President Buhari's spokesperson, Garba Shehu, disclosed in a statement that both leaders spoke on the phone.

According to him, President Nana Akufo Addo told Nigeria's President Buhari that he had ordered a full investigation on the incident.

Shehu disclosed that some persons had been arrested in relations to the case.

On the night of Friday, June 19, unknown armed men breached the premises of the Nigeria High Commissioner's residence in Accra and demolished a building that was under construction.

Eons Intelligence reported that a Paramount Chief of the Osu Traditional Area, Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI, claimed in a press release that the demolished building in Accra, Ghana, does not belong to the Nigerian High Commission.

The Chief alleged that the land belonged to the Osu stool and accused the Nigeria High Commission of aiding a business person of Nigerian origin to claim it forcefully.
