The Paramount Chief of the Osu Traditional Area, Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI, says the demolished building in Accra, Ghana, does not belong to the Nigerian High Commission.

He stated via a press release issued on Sunday that the said land and the entire Osu Mantse layout is not Government's property.

Nii Kinka Dowuona VI said that "it is only the stool that has the mandate to grant (a) lease of it."

Recall that on Friday, unknown armed men stormed the Nigerian High Commissioner's residence in Accra, with bulldozers demolishing a block of uncompleted apartments on the property on Friday night.

However, the Chief of Osu Traditional Area explained that the land situated at West Ridge is different from that which is currently being occupied by the Nigerian High Commission.

The Chief accused the Nigerian High Commission of aiding a business person of Nigerian origin to take over the land forcefully.

"The Osu Stool was also informed that the structure is planned entertainment complex to be used as an events center for commercial purposes and is not a block of flats as has been purported in the reportage," he said.

Nii Kinka Dowuona VI, who is also the President of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs claimed that it "verbally informed the unidentified trespasser of the ownership status of the land through the security personnel resident on the parcel of land" but got no response.

He also claimed the police and officials from the land commission had on several occasions requested for the documentation on the parcel of land, but none has been provided.
