Troops bust criminal hideout in Rivers, recover rifles and ammunition in Operation UDO KA raid
Troops of Sector 4, Joint Task Force South-East, Operation UDO KA, have recovered a cache of arms and ammunition after raiding a suspected criminal hideout in Rivers State as part of ongoing operations against criminal elements in the South-East.
The intelligence-led operation was carried out in the early hours of 23rd July, 2026, at Awara Community Waterside in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area and along the Omoku–Ogbaku–Ndoni axis of Rivers State.
According to the Nigerian Army, the troops stormed a forest enclave believed to have served as a staging base for criminal gangs planning kidnappings and attacks on security personnel and civilians.
During the operation, troops recovered one Lee-Enfield MK I rifle, one G3 rifle, 116 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition and 13 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition. Clearance operations are ongoing to rid the area of criminal elements.
The Army said the latest recovery marks the fourth successful seizure of illegal arms and ammunition by troops in the South-East within the last two weeks, highlighting the effectiveness of intelligence-driven operations and collaboration with other security agencies and members of the public.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations against criminal networks until they are dismantled and all perpetrators are brought to justice. It also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing security operations.
