GOVERNOR UMAHI SHUTS DOWN PRIVATE HOSPITAL OVER COVID-19 DEATH IN EBONYI

Ebonyi State Governor,David Umahi, has shut down a private hospital where the index COVID-19 death in the State was recorded.


Recall that on June 19th, 2020, Eons Intelligence reported the death of a COVID-19 patient in the State which prompted the Governor to shut down all courts.


Reports indicate that a former Chief Medical Director (CMD), at the Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, Unwana-Afikpo, Ebonyi State, allegedly died of the viral infection in the hospital.

Governor Umahi also vowed that the management of the hospital would face persecution.


This was made known by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr Francis Nwaze, to newsmen yesterday.


According him, Governor Umahi ordered the hospital's closure after a meeting with members of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Response Team at the Government House, Abakaliki.


Nwaze revealed that the Governor also directed relevant authorities to immediately revoke the Certificate of Occupancy ( C OF O) of the hospital's landed property.


The Special Assistant added that the Governor is set to build two new COVID-19 testing centres in the State.
