410 MEMBERS OF DARUL SALAM TERRORISTS GROUP SURRENDER AS OPERATION WHIRL STROKE BUSTS THEIR HIDEOUT AND RECOVERS AMMUNITIONS AND EXPLOSIVIES IN NASSARAWA

410 members of the Darul Salam Terrorists Group have surrendered to the troops of operation Whirl Stroke and other security agencies deployed at Uttu in Toto Local Government Area of Nassarawa.


The surrendered terrorists include men, women and children.


This development took place on Wednesday, August 26th, 2020.


The troops while on a robust clearance patrol around Uttu stormed a Darul Salam terrorist bomb-making factory and decimated it.

This follows actionable technical and human intelligence on the activities of terrorists in the general area.


The operation which was conducted based on intelligence reports also led to the recovery of several Improvised Explosive Device (IED) making materials at their hideout such as 2 scales, 6 rocket launcher bombs, one bag of fertilizer, half a bag of gun powder, 10 locally made hand grenades, one Rocket Propelled Grenade bomb fuse, one locally made Rocket Launcher, 2 Improvised Explosive Devices,13 Improvised rocket bombs, amongst others.


The camp was subsequently destroyed while troops are equally searching the surrounding forests for fleeing members of the sect.


This success comes 48 hours after the Air Task Force of Operation Hail Storm eliminated key ISWAP leaders and scores of fighters in a massive air duel at Kirta Wulgo and Sambo Tumbun areas of Borno State.


The development comes three days after troops of Operation Sahel Sanity killed two bandits, arrested 150, recovered weapons, and rustled cattle in a raid on an illegal mining site located along Gadan Zaima-Zuru road in Bukuyyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State.


Also, on July 11th, 2020, the troops killed two bandits and injured several fighters in a makeshift camp at the outskirt of Arufu area in Taraba State.


Recall that on July 17th, 2020, troops of Operation Whirl Stroke killed a kidnap-gang leader and rescued 34 kidnapped victims at Tomayin village in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.
