POLICE COMMENCE INVESTIGATION INTO MURDER OF APC CHAIRMAN IN BENUE

The Benue State police command has commenced investigation into the murder of Tersoo Ahu, All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Gboko South ward of the State.


Eons Intelligence gathered that the APC chieftain was killed on Sunday, 7th February 2021 by clubs and cutlasses wielding hoodlums who invaded a venue where he and other ward officials were training party members for the APC registration and revalidation exercise.


James Orgunga, APC Publicity Secretary in Benue State confirmed the incident.

He stated that the ward chairman sustained serious injuries and died at a public hospital in Gboko.


Reacting to the incident, Kate Anene,Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO) of the Benue Command, said a probe had commenced.


“I can confirm the attack and killing of the APC ward chairman in Gboko, our men rushed to the scene but the suspects fled.


“However, we have identified them and very soon we shall pick them up,” the PPRO said.


Condemning the attack, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged security agencies to investigate the alleged killing of Ahu by hoodlums.


The incident occurred a day after about 11 persons were killed by unknown gunmen at Vingir village, Mbayongo in Katsina Ala Local Government Area of Benue State.


There has been a rise in insecurity in Benue State recently involving abductions and killings.


In January 2021, the Benue State Government imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew on Ukum and Katsina-Ala Local Government Areas in the State as part of the measures to check insecurity.
