#ENDSARS: LAGOS STATE JUDICIAL PANEL VISITS MILITARY MORTUARY IN IKOYI

The judicial panel appointed by the Lagos State Government to investigate police abuses and the shooting at the Lekki toll gate, paid a visit to the Military Mortuary in Ikoyi on Friday.

Eons Intelligence earlier reported that the panel had visited the scene of the shootings to have an on-the-spot assessment of the incident.

The panel members then went to the Military mortuary for an ‘unscheduled meeting’, and were denied entry into the mortuary by the military personnel.

However, after 30 minutes, they were allowed into the premises.

Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, a member of the panel, told newsmen that it has ‘confidential information’ that certain events happened in the hospital on October 20,2020.

He said, “We are exercising our mandate on behalf of the governor of Lagos State under the tribunal of inquiry laws.

“We have already inspected the Lekki toll gate today and we decided to pay an unscheduled visit to the mortuary of the Military Hospital because we have confidential information concerning certain events that took place in the hospital here.

“We are waiting for them to grant us access to inspect the mortuary because we have reasons to believe that that facility is relevant to our investigation.

“We don’t want to make any conclusions yet until we have access to that mortuary to inspect it.

“We have a pathologist with us who is here to help us conduct medical examination of bodies that we may find in the mortuary.”

The Army has come under attack and condemnation from Nigerians after a viral video which surfaced on the internet showed that military men opened fire on unarmed #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki tollgate last Tuesday, October 20.

In a statement released by its Acting Deputy PRO, Osoba Olaniyi, on Tuesday, October 27, the Army debunked the allegations, and revealed the claims are from the hand work of mischief makers who will stop at nothing to tarnish its image.

It however stated that the Lagos State Government called on its intervention after a 24-hour curfew was declared in the State following series of violence and bloodshed that accompanied the protests which led to several police stations being burnt, and policemen killed.
