AMNESTY STUDENTS PROTEST NON-PAYMENT OF ALLOWANCES IN IGBINEDION UNIVERSITY (VIDEO)

In the early hours of Wednesday, December 2, students under the scholarship of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) in Igbinedion University, Okada in Edo State staged a protest over the non-payment of their In-Training Allowances (ITA) for 36 months.

In a viral video captured online, the irate students were seen crying out to the authorities to pay up their pending allowances or have the matter escalated to the Amnesty office in Abuja.

The students built bonfires at the residential area of the institution demanding that the Vice-chancellor, Lawrence Ikechukwu address them and find a solution to their plight.

The lecturer said the VC promptly addressed the students and promised to ensure that their demands are met very soon, adding that academic works had since commenced in the university.
