EDO 2020: IGP DEPLOYS SECURITY CHIEFS TO SUPERVISE AND COORDINATE ELECTION
Nigeria’s Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, has deployed 1 DIG, 1 AIG, and 8 CPs to supervise and coordinate the security arrangement for the Gubernatorial Election in Edo State slated for September 19th, 2020.
The security personnel deployed include DIG Adeleye Olusola Oyabade, MNI, Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Research and Planning, AIG Karma Hosea Hassan, PSC, Assistant Inspector General of police, and eight Commissioners of Police.
The deployment is aimed at ensuring proper organization towards a violence-free election in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.

The DIG, with the assistance of the AIG, will supervise and monitor the entire security architecture and ensure proper supervision of the election and due enforcement of all electoral laws in the State.
Other senior Police Officers similarly involved include; CP Garba Baba Umar, CP Habu Sani and CP Buba Sanusi.
CP Akeera M. Yonous will coordinate the operations of the Police Mobile Force (PMF) and other special strike forces while the other four CPs will oversee security arrangement in the three senatorial districts of the State.
Also, CP Omololu .S. Bishi and CP Abutu Yaro are to oversee Edo North senatorial district, CP Philip Aliyu Ogbadu would oversee Edo Central Senatorial District, and CP Olokade T. Olawale would supervise Edo South Senatorial District.
The IGP has also barred all security aides attached to VIPs and Political appointees from escorting their principals on the Election Day.
He warns that anyone who violates this order will be severely penalized.

Furthermore, Adamu urged all officers and security personnel on duty in the State to ensure they work in line with standard practices and adhere strictly with the approved code of conduct and rules of engagement for the elections.
He also admonished the aspirants and other relevant stakeholders in the State to cooperate and work together with the Police and other security personnel to achieve a violence-free election.
