ANAMBRA STATE POLICE COMMAND ARRESTS THREE SUSPECTS FOR MURDER, RECOVERS VICTIM’S CORPSE FROM A FOREST

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the murder of a 34-year old man identified as Henry Okam, in Okija, Ihiala Local Government Area.


The State’s Police Spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed, who confirmed the development, said the Command has also recovered the decomposing corpse of Henry from a forest in Ihiala.


Mohammed identified the suspects as Obasi Ezinne, Ntomchukwu Anabaraonye and Abuchi Obinna.


It was gathered that the suspects abducted Henry Okan on August 30th, 2020, killed him, and deposited his remains in a shallow grave in a forest in Ihiala.


The Police Spokesperson said operatives of the State’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) arrested the suspects on Saturday, September 5th, 2020, adding that a pomp-action rifle was recovered from them.

He said, “The suspects had on August 30, 2020, allegedly abducted one Henry Okam in Ihiala LGA of Anambra State. They also killed the victim with a pump-action rifle and subsequently buried him in a shallow grave.


“Meanwhile, the suspects, who voluntarily confessed to the crime, took operatives to a thick forest in Ihiala, where the decomposing body of the victim was exhumed and recovered to the mortuary for an autopsy after it was certified dead by a medical doctor


“Consequently, the gun used by the suspects in perpetrating the heinous crime, including the victim’s phones, were also recovered from them and registered as exhibits.”
