ARMED MEN IMPERSONATING SECURITY OFFICIALS ABDUCT PASSENGERS IN BORNO
Bandits suspected to be Boko Haram terrorists on Thursday, May 28 reportedly kidnapped about five passengers and stole the commercial vehicle they were travelling in along Monguno - Gajiram road in Borno state.
One of the victims tipped off security officers after he escaped.
The armed men set up an illegal checkpoint impersonating security officials to lure unsuspecting drivers into slowing down their cars.
Sources say although robberies on the road are common, this is the first time the victims would be robbed and abducted.
According to reports, the bandits most times come with their motorcycles, set up illegal checkpoints and dispossess their victims of their valuables.
