Army Rescues 30 Kidnap Victims, Neutralizes Terrorists, Recovers Weapons in Nationwide Operations

The Nigerian Army has recorded a series of operational successes across multiple theatres between 10 and 13 September 2025, rescuing 30 kidnap victims, neutralizing terrorists, arresting suspects, and recovering weapons, ammunition, and other logistics.


On 10 September, troops of 22 Brigade arrested two suspected kidnappers in Babanna, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State. In a related development, 12 Brigade troops, working with hybrid forces and vigilantes, rescued 17 abducted passengers abandoned by their captors in Lokoja, Kogi State. Troops of Sector 1 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) also freed a kidnap victim in Katsina-Ala, Benue State, while Sector 8 troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) in Plateau State arrested two suspected rustlers in Mangu and recovered weapons, ammunition, and cash. Additionally, OPWS personnel recovered an AK-47 rifle and 29 rounds of ammunition during a patrol in Ado, Benue State.


The following day, 11 September, troops achieved more breakthroughs. In Kogi State, 12 Brigade troops neutralized one extremist in Kabba Bunu and recovered a loaded AK-47 magazine and 31 mobile phones. In Borno, one ISWAP/JAS fighter surrendered to hybrid forces in Ngamdu, offering intelligence on terrorist operations. Elsewhere, 8 Division troops rescued seven kidnap victims and recovered a vehicle during an encounter along the Marnona–Gundumi–Isa road, while 12 Brigade rescued four abducted persons along the Egbe–Eruku road in Yagba West, Kogi State. In Plateau, Sector 2 troops repelled a terrorist attack in Quan-Pan with drone support, and Sector 3 OPEP troops rescued a victim in Bassa.


Also on 11 September, troops intercepted a smuggling syndicate in Mubi South, Adamawa State, forcing them to abandon a truck loaded with 20 jerrycans of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS). In the South-South, Operation Delta Safe dismantled an illegal refining site with 3,800 litres of stolen crude oil in Bayelsa, while another team intercepted 1,600 litres of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) in Rivers State.


On 12 September, troops of Sector 3 OPEP in Plateau rescued another victim in Bassa who had been abducted in Jos the previous day.


Overall, within the four-day period, the Army confirmed the neutralization of one terrorist, the surrender of another, the arrest of six suspects, and the rescue of 30 kidnap victims, along with the recovery of weapons, cash, petroleum products, motorcycles, mobile phones, and other logistics.


The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations and creating a secure environment to boost agricultural activities, in line with the Federal Government’s drive for food security.
