COVID-19: OGUN HEALTH WORKERS SOLICIT FOR INCREMENT IN RENUMERATION, PPE
Doctors and Health workers in Ogun state have pleaded to the state government to provide better renumeration and kits to enhance their responses to curtail the spread of Coronavirus in the state.
The Chairman of the National Association of Government General Medical and Dental Practitioners (NAGGMDP) Ogun State chapter, Dr. Durojaiye Oluwatosin together with his Secretary in a press briefing disclosed that the claims by the Commissioner of Health, Dr Tomi Coker, that frontline health workers have been given Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) were not true.
He revealed that the workers infected with Coronavirus worked in the hospital and not in isolation centres.
Therefore, the association solicits for increment of Health hazard allowance to N100,000 as well as provision of PPE.
Association of Resident Doctors Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) Sagamu, Ogun State appealed for protection and appreciation of doctors putting their lives at risk.
The President of the Association,Dr. Mutiu Abiodun Popoola, therefore asked for additional 20 per cent of the initial 50 percent of their basic as hazard allowance as Special risk allowance to help in managing the pandemic.
It also appealed for Group life Insurance to all resident doctors, medical officers and house officers in OOUTH to cover for up to 300 per cent of annual take home in case of infirmity, disability or death.
As at 22nd April, Ogun State has recorded 24 cases of Coronavirus.
