BANDITS ATTACK KADUNA COMMUNITIES, KILL 18, LOOT PROPERTIES

Bandits have killed at least 18 persons in Giwa, Chikun, and Igabi local government areas of Kaduna, the state government said on Wednesday. 


State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, confirmed the incident in a statement on Wednesday.

 Samuel Aruwan, Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs disclosed that the bandits attacked Anaba village in Igabi local government area and killed seven people. The assailants also rustled cattle and burnt many houses, storehouses, and barns in the community.

The name of those killed are Ali Musa, Isa Sharehu, Tijjani Isa, Auwalu Shehu, Hashim Abdullahi, Hassan Saidu, and Umar Rilwanu.


Also, the bandits killed eight persons in an attack on Barinje village in Chikun local government area. Cattles were also rustled in the attack and a yet to be ascertained number of residents were also abducted from the village.

The names of persons killed in the attack are Sunday Gwamna, Lawal Jizo, Salha Barau, Sabo Barau, Umaru Barau, Muhammadu Dan Azumi, Zailani Dogara, and Jikan Gambo.


In a similar operation, armed bandits attacked residents of Kwarten Rigasa, Kwarten Waziri and Kwarten Shaku in Igabi local government area.

The bandits rustled cattle and killed a man named Danjuma Isa from neighbouring Ungwan Kanti village as he made his way on foot to Kwarten Rigasa.

Bandits also invaded Sanhu Makera village in Birnin Yero of Igabi local government area and killed a farmer identified as Yakubu Abdullahi.

Banditry has fast become one of the most worrisome crime in Nigeria’s northwestern regions. 

As Nigeria’s security operatives continually fight to curb this monster, Governors in Nigeria recently gave strong indications that they might hold dialogue with bandits to curb the rising insecurity in the country.


Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has sent his condolences to the families of all those killed in the attacks and offered prayers for the souls of the deceased and injured victims.
