BANK ROBBERY SCARE IN SAPELE AS POLICE OPERATION GOES WRONG
Banks, customers and residents in Sapele were thrown into a panic on Wednesday following a robbery scare caused by sounds of gunshots caused by a police operation gone wrong.
Report says at about 9.30 am on Wednesday, September 9, repeated sounds of gunshots fired at a zenith bank branch triggered other banks and shops in the neighbourhood to shut operations for fear of an ongoing bank robbery.
However, it was discovered that the source of the gunshots emanated from police operatives who stormed the bank to arrest a notorious hotelier.
Sources say the police shot their firearms to clear their way, thereby causing avoidable panic and loss of business hours.
