CASUALTY FIGURE IN SOUTH-SUDAN SOAR AS NINE UGANDAN DRIVERS WERE KILLED IN ROAD AMBUSH ALONG YEI-JUBA ROAD
Eons Intelligence have gathered that about nine Ugandan drivers were killed in a deadly road ambush on Tuesday along the Yei-Juba road in South Sudan.
Recently, there has been a rise in insecurity such as murder, kidnap, killings, and burning of vehicles on the Yei-Juba road in South Sudan.
The latest attacks come barely two weeks after a group of armed South Sudanese herdsmen allegedly killed eight fishermen at Odujo landing site in Kajo-Keji County, along River Nile shared by Uganda and South Sudan.
On Thursday, Five people were shot and killed near Ame-Junction on the Yei-Juba rowd. It was gathered that foreign traders and a commercial truck were also burnt in the attack.
Also, on Sunday, the Central Equatoria State Government said at least 10 people were killed in three different attacks along the Juba-Yei road.
The attacks took place between Kuli Papa and Ganji in Juba County, and between Limbe and Kenyi Payam in Lainya County. Three Ugandan drivers and one South Sudanese driver were among those killed.

The Ugandan Government has condemned the killing of civilians, including traders and commuters along this axis, calling on Authorities in South Sudan to explain the rise in attack.
The Yei-Juba highway has become a hotbed for insecurity in recent years. On September 1, 2020, bandits ambushed a civilian vehicle on this axis, killing two persons and injuring five others.
Following a rise in insecurity in this axis, the Kenyan Transporters Association (KTA) have warned drivers in South Sudan not to ply the Yei-Juba road following until further notice.
In a press statement by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the KTA, Dennis Ombok, transporters are advised to withdraw their services until maximum security is guaranteed in the area.
