Airstrikes Disrupt Terrorist Convergence in Zamfara, Dozens Neutralized

The Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY) has recorded a significant operational success following a precision airstrike on 4 August 2025, targeting a large assembly of terrorists at the foot of Asola Hills in Yankuzo Ward, Tsafe Local Government Area, Zamfara State.

The terrorists had reportedly gathered for a wedding ceremony when the strike—based on credible intelligence—was launched. The targeted group comprised terrorists from Faskari and Kankara in Katsina State, as well as elements from other parts of Zamfara State.

The coordinated air assault neutralized several terrorists and left many others critically wounded. Reliable local sources reported that the injured fighters were evacuated to Yankuzo village for treatment.

In a follow-up ground operation on 5 August, troops of 1 Brigade under Sector 2 of OPFY fought through an ambush laid along the route to the village, further consolidating the air operation’s gains.

According to residents and multiple sources within the area, at least 30 terrorists were killed during the joint air and ground operations. Additionally, four known terrorist collaborators from Kunchin Kalgo village in Tsafe LGA were critically injured.

The interdiction has brought much-needed relief to residents of Yankuzo, Tsafe, and surrounding communities, who have suffered repeated attacks in recent times. OPFY has reaffirmed its commitment to restoring peace and security across Zamfara and the wider North West region.
