
Troops Neutralize Armed Criminal in Benue, Arrest Suspect and Recover Weapon in Nasarawa
Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE have neutralized an armed criminal during a deliberate ambush operation conducted on 15 October 2025 east of Ayilamo, within Tombo Council Ward of Logo Local Government Area, Benue State.
The troops engaged the criminal elements in a firefight, killing one of the suspects, while others fled the scene with gunshot wounds. Items recovered from the operation include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine, and fourteen rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. The troops have continued patrols in the area to maintain dominance and reassure local residents.
In a separate operation, troops of Sub-Sector 2 deployed at Maraba Udege Community in Nasarawa Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, arrested a suspect following a distress call from Maraba Market on the same day. The suspect, identified as Mr. Ramanu Elizabeth, was found in possession of a locally fabricated pistol. He is currently in custody for further investigation and necessary action.
The Force Commander, Joint Task Force Operation WHIRL STROKE, Major General Moses Gara, commended the troops for their professionalism and tactical proficiency. He urged them to sustain the operational momentum to ensure a safe environment for law-abiding citizens.
Investigations and follow-up operations are ongoing as troops continue to collaborate with local security stakeholders and community leaders to disrupt criminal networks and restore peace within the Joint Operations Area.
