#ENDSARS: NIGERIA POLICE WITHDRAWS SUIT TO STOP JUDICIAL PANELS’ PROBE
The Nigeria Police Force has applied to withdraw the suit it earlier filed asking the court to stop the various Judicial Panels of Inquiry set up to investigate allegations of brutality and human rights violation by policemen, particularly the recently disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad SARS.
Recall that Eons intelligence reported that a lawyer representing the police, Mr O. M. Atoyebi on Thursday, December 3, filed a suit at the Federal High Court in Abuja asking the court to stop the ongoing judicial panels set up by Governors across the state as it “is unconstitutional, illegal, null and void and of no effect whatsoever.”

However, the Nigeria Police released a statement via its official handles, late Thursday expressing the “disapproval of the Force Management Team” and ordered the investigations “into the alleged role of the Force Legal Section, including its Head.”
The statement hinted that the Police leadership got wind of the suit to stop panels “on heels of trending reports on the media.”
The Police statement reported that IGP Mohammed Adamu reiterates the commitment of the police force to “fulfilling all its obligations with regards to the disbandment of the defunct SARS, the ongoing Judicial Reforms, and all other police reforms.”

As a follow- up to Thursday’s statement, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) on Friday applied to withdraw the suit through another lawyer identified as Festus Ibude.
