FCT POLICE DEBUNKS EXAGGERATED KIDNAPPING CLAIMS IN BWARI AND KUJE
In response to recent reports of the alleged kidnap of over two hundred individuals between December 23, 2023, and January 4, 2024, in Bwari and Kuje Area Councils, the FCT Police Command has issued a statement.
The Command stated that while there have been incidents of abduction in the mentioned communities, the circulating figure is inflated, seemingly intended to instill fear and panic among the residents.
Taking proactive measures, the Commissioner of Police for FCT visited Bwari communities on January 3, 2024. During these visits, the Commissioner engaged with community leaders, assessed security arrangements, and deployed additional police personnel along with an armored police vehicle (APC). Plans are underway to extend these measures to other communities within the FCT.
Despite these efforts, concerns have been voiced regarding perceived inactivity. The Command emphasizes that disclosing detailed security strategies publicly could compromise their effectiveness, posing a risk to the communities involved.
The FCT Police reassures residents of their commitment to enhancing security and preventing abductions. Investigations are ongoing, and the police urge the public to remain vigilant while assuring them that measures are in place to address the security challenges in the affected areas.
