Troops Recover Cache of 12.7mm Ammunition in North-East Operation
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have recovered a large cache of high-calibre ammunition during sustained security operations in the Bulumkutu Railway area of the North-East.
The discovery followed intelligence-driven follow-up operations aimed at denying terrorist and criminal elements freedom of movement, particularly after recent suicide bombing threats in the area. Acting on a distress call received at about 3:00 p.m. on 2 January 2026, troops, in collaboration with police Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams, moved to the location after suspicious metallic objects were reported in a drainage channel.
A detailed search led to the recovery of 1,270 rounds of 12.7mm ammunition warheads, including some live rounds, alongside other concealed items. The area was immediately secured, with safety measures put in place while further checks are ongoing to rule out additional hidden threats.
No casualties were recorded during the operation. Security forces continue to dominate the area to protect residents and prevent any attempt to retrieve the recovered items.
Operation Hadin Kai has urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious objects or movements, stressing that community cooperation remains critical to sustaining security and stability in the North-East.
