KANO THUG LEADER ABANDONS LIFE OF CRIME WITH 40 FOLLOWERS, SURRENDERS TO POLICE FOR PEACE AND DEVELOPMENT

In a significant development, Abba Burakita of Dorayi, along with 40 of his associates, has renounced their life of thuggery. They have voluntarily surrendered and handed over their weapons to the local authorities, expressing remorse for their past actions and a commitment to change for the better. The gesture has been commended by Commissioner of Police Gumel, who extended his gratitude to the people of the state for their prayers, support, encouragement, and cooperation.

These individuals were previously wanted by the police, with a bounty of 500,000 Naira on each of their heads. However, a recent gathering at Sani Abacha In-door Stadium on October 17, 2023, marked a turning point in Abba Burakita's outlook, as he now places his trust in law enforcement.

Burakita, accompanied by his family members and Police Special Constabulary Ado Runto, has expressed his desire to participate in the state government's amnesty program, with the goal of promoting peace and sustainable development. What's noteworthy is that he also brought along 40 of his former followers from his thug camp, whom he had influenced during the prolonged period of rivalry that spanned over a decade.

This development is seen as a significant step towards restoring peace in Kano State and rekindling hope for a brighter future. Currently, Abba Burakita and the 40 repentant individuals are in the custody of the Kano State Police Command for security profiling.
