NAF Airstrikes Destroy Terrorist Hideouts In Southern Tumbuns, Mandara Mountains
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), through the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, has intensified ongoing counter-terrorism operations in the North-East with a series of precision airstrikes targeting terrorist enclaves in the Southern Tumbuns and Mandara Mountains.
The coordinated strikes, carried out on May 19, 2026, targeted identified terrorist locations at Bukar Meram in the Southern Tumbuns and Chikide within the Mandara Mountain region following credible intelligence and confirmatory Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions.
According to military authorities, the operations successfully destroyed terrorist logistics hubs, concealed structures, and assembly points used by insurgents for planning and coordinating attacks. Several terrorists were reportedly neutralised during the strikes, while the operations also disrupted planned hostile activities within the affected areas.
Speaking on the development, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, reiterated the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to sustaining intelligence-led air offensives in collaboration with other security agencies and allied partners.
He stated that the NAF would continue coordinated joint operations aimed at identifying and eliminating terrorist hideouts, operational bases, and logistics networks across the country as part of ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability.
