NIGERIA POLICE SHUT DOWN ALL IRS, STS OFFICES ACROSS THE COUNTRY
The Nigeria Police Force over the weekend shut down all satellite offices and bases of the Intelligence Response Squad (IRS) and the Special Tactical Squad (STS) across the country with the exception of Abuja.
In an internal memo, all offices were ordered to comply with immediate effect while the Commissioners of Police were ordered to ensure strict compliance.
Reports say the offices affected have been instructed to transfer all suspects in their custody to the State Command’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) while cases that are still under investigation be moved to the State Criminal investigation Departments (SCID).
Recall Eons Intelligence reported that President Buhari approved the reorganisation of the Intelligence Arm of the police.
On May 27, the President approved that the Force Intelligence Bureau FIB be formally excised from the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID).
