Operation Fansan Yamma troops rescue kidnap victim, foil terrorist attack in Kaduna and Sokoto
Troops of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued a kidnapped man in Kaduna State and repelled a terrorist attack in Sokoto State during separate operations.
On 20 August 2026, troops of Sector 1 responded to a distress call over the abduction of a 43-year-old man around Awon Community in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The troops pursued the suspected kidnappers into nearby bushes, forcing them to abandon the victim and escape. The rescued man was subsequently reunited with his family.
In a separate operation on 21 August, troops of Sector 2, supported by local security personnel, responded to an attack on Kwaren Gamba Village in Sabon Birni LGA of Sokoto State.
The troops engaged the attackers and forced them to retreat. During the pursuit, one suspected terrorist was neutralised, while two mobile phones, cash, an ATM card, recharge cards and other items were recovered.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA said it would sustain operations against terrorist groups across the North-West and urged residents to remain vigilant and provide security agencies with timely and credible information.
